Nottingham Indoor Rowing Competition - Saturday 7th November 2009
A fantastic day of racing at the rowing club. A huge entry from Colmers School meant the junior races got off to a brilliant start. Newark had some great races starting with Jake Buil winning MJ16 in a time of 06.48.5 closely followed by Sam Bonser MJ18 in a time of 06.48.8 - well done guys a nail biting race. Theo Kerscaven also won MJ18L in 07.45.2. Having been away from the rowing club for a while now Ellie Jewitt had a superb race winning WJ18L in a time of 8.18.8. Luke Wren and Robbie Goodwin had a great race in MJ14 - 4 minute with Luke reaching a fantastic 1168m and Robbie 1023m. Heather Barnes won WJ14 - 4 minute race reaching 1053m and Rowena Price came third with 980. Well done girls. Both the Newark boys and girls put in great team performances - the girls managed to beat the Colmer girls but the boys onlt just lost out to Colmer school.
In the senior races Oli Saunders had a great race leading MOL for most of the way but then sliped into second place and then Graham Price decided to race at the last minute and came third in the M40H.
No less that 3 British records were broken today in the M50H by M Harvey in 4.59.3, W Konarzewski inthe M60H in 5.21.5 and Y Marks in the WJL in a time of 6.10.
Thanks you to everyone who raced and of course to all of those people who helped out.
